Last year on our annual fishing outing to michigan we were all using mono, except my cousin jason. We would get snagged break the line and tie on a new one, Jason had on 50# spiderwire he got snagged and pulled in a tree. I'm not over exagerating this one guys for real a friggin tree. It was about 30ft long and every bit of 2ft around. It took 6 guys to barely get this tree onto the bank. And after we did Jason collected about 15 lures. i took 3 while he wasn't lookin. But that is a true testament why I clearly switched to braid, I personally enjoy the 30# power pro feels great with my combo.

I believe you plumber. When my brother put 30lb braid on his river set up, we pulled in a tree probably about 20-25 feet long, not as thick as yours though but it was a tree. Unfortunately it had no lures on it.

Mono can cut you pretty bad too. As a wee tike I was jigging a fuzzy grub through the cracks of a pier for panfish. I had my dads setup which probably had 20lb mono on it. Well, Mr. Musky decided he liked that grub too and grabbed it. That line went deep into my hand before breaking. Plenty of minor cuts on my finger from braid is well. Its never a good idea to wrap it around your fingers or even pull braid with your hand, but I never learn............

Like Matt said, it's never a good idea to grab any line with your hand. Especially braid. One trick that I have used with braid is to take my pliers and wrap the line around it and then pull with the pliers.

That's exactly what I do now, it works well.

Matt- That's crazy. A musky decided to go for the grub, wow! Must have hurt. Not only your hand, but losing the fish.
