Senkos - I'm in Mt. Sterling, IL right now and I caught 63 bass (55 acre lake and on a farm pond) over the past 1.5 days (8 hours of fishing) and all but 6 of them we caught on senkos with watermelon and pumpkin colors were the most effective but that's what I mostly stock up on. Since I started getting bored and ran out of my usual colors I tried and experiment and tried hot pink (bubblegum) and some funky watermelon senkos I had with some lime green tips, I did get get a bunch of short strikes and landed a couple but they did shy away more from them. That being said colors are one of those fishing issues that even the top pros can argue about all day and they can all be equally right according to KVD's in his book Bass Strategies. Waters I was fishing the past two days were clear.

I did make and honest effort to try 5 other rigs (3" shad-rap rapala in bluegill, 6" Texas rig bulleted watermelon worm, bronze blade & black/brown chatter, crawdad color flipping jig, Strike King #5 crankbait in Sexy Shad) I had in the boat which were used on the visible structure/cover I was fishing but unfortunetly senkos stole the show again for me on the larger lake I fished for 5 hours. It might be worth noting that all the bass I caught today were dinks but these are the same waters where I caught my profile pic bass on last year but on a flipping jig, go figure none of that luck has returned. I can't say I'm great with senkos or any other presentations for that matter but senkos seams to work for me in a number of situations.

Gosh I'm becoming a caricature of myself with these damn senkos as another angler is with Productos and pearl on the Fox... say it ain't so. :(

Mike- you bring up an interesting topic and something that I have been struggling with. Numbers on plastics versus quality on jigs. Granted, you can catch big bass on plastics but over time jigs will produce more bigger bass than plastics. I've always leaned more towards plastics- senkos, flickshake, baby brush hogs, and craws- over jigs since I could go out and catch 20-25 bass on a good day. I just didn't have the patience to fish the jig and wait for a hit every hour or so. That is one of my major goals this year. Yesterday, I am proud to say that this worked perfectly. 5 fish on a jig and 15-16 lbs of bass. Probably if I had thrown plastics I would have caught 3 times as many (even though other reports might indicate otherwise) but I was happy with the results. Plus, there is nothing better than feeling that bump and setting the fish on fish that barely moves!

And Woz- Didn't mean to go off-task but Mike's topic was interesting to me. I clicked on buzzbaits since I need a few new ones.

I'd stock up on Spooks, and Bully Wahs or the likes. Not much of a soft plastic guy, I have trouble finding spinners that produce for me, so i stick with what works for me, and nothing works better than a walker for me.

I'd most likely invest the discounted purchase, in which ever lure I didn't have much of a stock in. For me, out of your list that would be buzzbaits. (I have no clue how and when to fish them, but could probably use a few)

It almost feels weird for me reading through these threads and hearing that people don't feel they catch as much on jigs. There one of the first things I'll tie on when the going gets tuff. It interesting for me to read what everyone's confidence lures are, and how differently we all fish.

economically speaking, wouldnt it be best to get the most expensive one. (this does not take into account what lure we use or buy the most though) Alas, try and sell the expensive lure at a 25-30% dicounted rate instead of 50%or whatever u bought it for... What am i talking about anyway, thats too much work already,,, Shouldnt we have asked, what is your favorite lure?
