Hey, MPlant is back! And he brought his sense of humor back with him too!

All joking aside... Why don't we run a quick poll and get the opinion of the group for the first one and then stick to the schedule for the rest of them?

Does this work?

Then what is the issue with having the 30th as the alternate date and keeping the 23rd as the main date lol?
Well JOSH I just though we would start a week earlier if we "could" based on the weather sir.

It's been a long winter !!!!!

You OK with that ?

Just seems like that should have been thought of before posting the dates the first time but whatever, I'm out.

Your missing the point !!!!.... It's 40 days out ..I can't control the weather but
I do know from running these events... April is hit or miss(plan for both dates). I hope you can make it on the day your are off....50/50 at this point as with "everyone else" :D ,,,,hence the two dates...In advance

What would realy suck is that you change your day off to the 16th then we get rained out.... to the 23rd........

No see, I'd understand if it ended up being a bad weather issue postponing it...It's the fact that it is within human control to choose the week before and screw over the people that planned for the 23rd and can't change it rather than to just make the alternative day the week after...

And you keep making a point that it is 40 days out... Some things can't be changed once they are set even if that far in advance. I had to give the list of dates for all the tourneys when I switched jobs just to be able to get them off. And you already have 3 people who have posted here saying the same thing...It isn't easy for everyone to change those plans once they are made.

No Skunked...they don't

Makes sense to me. So far the only tourneys that were cancelled on the Chain were when the Fox Waterway closed the chain due to flooding. They've delayed one due to fog but never for high winds, rain, or lightning. Although, they would've delayed for lightning.
Don't take this the wrong way because I actually really enjoy the WCF tournies. Why don't you set ALL the dates now in stone for the whole year and this way people can arrange their work schedules around the tournies? You can always backload a couple of tournies to Aug, Sep, or Oct in case you have to cancel any tournies. The regular tournies I fish have their schedules posted 6-9 months in advance. If you can't make it to a tourney for whatever reason you don't get any points towards Team of the Year.
We had a tourney on the Chain in May of 2009 that had 40mph winds with 50mpg gusts. To make matters worse, the Chain was under a "No Wake" rule. It sucked trying to idle through 3 foot waves for over an hour to get North but that's the crappy part about fishing tournies that make them interesting and truly see who the best sticks are.

I also used the initial set of dates to plan out my attending as many as I can. I prefer we try to stick to the original dates as proposed. As to having "back-up" dates, I understand the reason for that since none of us can control the weather, but I also would suggest the "back up" dates be the week AFTER what's been put out here rather than the week before. In this case especially as if April weather is so unpredictable, why have the alternative date be a week earlier? JMO. LZ

I'm in and partnering with BPM as I am his net man  LZ
You probably won't even need the net, he loses 98% of them at the boat and the remaining 2% are all shorts not even worthy of netting.
I am in and will partner with Hans... And as far as the message sent by this insect avatar, refer to the angler of the year standing from last year son... Looks like most of my fish found the net sir...

There are dates, no matter how far out I can't make either. But that's just how the cookie crumbles. The voting on dates just made hundreds of post with people whining. This method of selected dates brings that number down slightly - but not much.

The fun thing about our tournaments/get togethers is the camaraderie - laughs, stories, good times, and of course the fish.

The WCTT is still a grassroots thing and always will be. Other bigger tournaments are always available for anglers seeking something different. We will never have tourney dates that will accommodate all the fine members here at WCF. So we all just do our best and work within our own lives and schedules.

I'll be a late decider about this one. Gonna play it by the weather for that day. Kinda like going to Wrigley Field in April - beautiful place but April sure can make it ugly.
