Mass genocide. We just need to get enough people into it. We did it to the buffalo with more primitive weapons, we can do this. I can't find my bow, I've moved 3 times since I last used it so I'll probably have to buy another one. I also need a boat unless you can get em from shore.

They could do something to kill all the fish, it would damage all the rivers but it's better than letting the carp get to Lake Michigan.
That's the only way I see it happening, or somehow making only the carp shoot blanks. 9:1 asian carp:all otherfish is a pretty bad ratio.

IMO that's more dangerous than riding a motorcycle. What if it hit her in the eye? I'd be using a full face helmet, or a bow like from american gladiators. At least a paintball mask.

My fear is that in all the excitement of shooting these fish with the bow and arrow, if they aren't careful, they could shoot each other! In the second to the last photo, they say they have two boats going at the same time. Well, what if one of the arrows come off the lanyard and it's aimed in the direction of the other boat? It seems like a scary accident just waiting to happen.

In shooting a gun at a range, you always aim down range and never anywhere else. But here, you are aiming all over the place trying to shoot something. One wrong aim and someone's going to get an arrow in them. It's scary.

yeah, they definetely have to do something.

i agree. after the carp are killed off, they would restock every thing. doing that would be better than letting the carp advance to lake Michigan.

 the girl who had her jaw broken is an old friend of my wife's actually. just heard about this story the other day. crazy stuff but not that surprising to hear really. something similar happens every few years down there with those carp jumping at people. gotta love the fishing of downtown peoria. and yeah, it does looks really fun to shoot carp with a bow.

yeah-not sure bout "re-stocking" a river after an attempt to mass kill everything in there. think that would take decades at least to get going again it would seem. and, the carp would be back eventually. they will get into lake michigan most likely probably just a matter of time.

It is stupid, but if there is 9x the carp than there is other fish, they are never going to stop it. If they are worried about the commercial aspects of lake michigan, they better stop them soon because a fence isn't going to work forever. Go watch jurrasic park. I guess decades worth of 1000's of people bow hunting every day might do it.

I agree on the decades to restore every thing, i would hate to see it come to that. but if the carp get into lake michigan, things will be worse.
They should make a backup electric fence and try to give carp shooting commercial value.
who knows what they will do.

LOL. If they are "investigating possible breaches of the barrier to Lake Michigan", that means that it has already been breached and there is nothing that anyone can do to stop it. They should seine the whole river and only throw back non-rough fish.
