I measured Larry's walleye at 25", figuring with the mouth closed and tail pinched it would have been a solid 26". I know that cache is there, I'm going to find it next time were out. Thanks again guys for helping me catch my very first walleye! I was very excited about that.
That's a really nice walleye. He's caught several of them in that size too. He gets one of that size pretty much every time he goes out. I've got to say, it looks like the Fox has a REALLY nice walleye population... Those fish are migratory, so to be catching them with this amount of frequency is very encouraging....

The question I guess is, are they running upriver, or downriver? And, where are they going to congregate? lol

The reason we don't see these kinds of catches outside of spring/fall is the HUGE number of shad in the Fox. I couldn't believe how much shad I saw, even as late in the year as the end of October. But, then again, those shad are the reason you see fish as nice as these too....

Karen you like the dead stick do nothing pattern? I thought you liked to wiggle it a little.
I prefer the jerk jerk pause pattern but sometimes you just need a break.

Up river and then back down to

A lot of people have asked me today if I am tired, when do I find time to fish, how can you stay up so late and still go to work in the morning?

Truth is, this is how I feel and probably look today:

But now that I have completely transformed into a zombie, I can fish whenever I want LOL

Nice freakin' fish guys and gals! If I may be so bold...what were ya casting? Anyone care to give a go at this question? This one may have been answered in a previous thread but I'm a bit short on the attention span.

I actually went out to the Fox the other nite to an area that I know holds walleyes and was a bit spooked on wading at night. There is some fast current close to where I was and that kind of freaked me out. I cast out an xrap and on the first cast I get hung up. $8 gone on one cast! So I've been drifting minnows on slip bobber...I did get a few fish...mostly smallies with 1 small walleye. I saw in this post that y'all just cast the lure out into or near the current and let it sit there? Can you expand on this process a bit? I just want to increase the confidence in the hard plastics and need some instruction.

Where do you think I should go Bass Pro or Gander Mt. They're both by my house. Are the Neoprene ones good?
You definately want the neoprene this time of year. If you get the breathable you will be chilled to the bone unless you wear some serious long underwear. For as much as I like Gander you probably will have minimal options on waders right now...they don't stock very well especially at the end of the season. You may even have a tough time finding what you want at BPS. I buy the Hodgeman brand but can't say I'm totally impressed by them. I usually get a new pair every other year.

Anyway...you guys have the walleyes dialed in and it's impressive that you are slamming them on the artificials. Keep the posts coming, I love seeing those walleyes!

Tell me about it.

ya im wearing breathable as well... but with my heavy winter boots, wool socks, and a couple pairs of sweat pants underneath them im pretty comfortable. my legs don't really ever get cold, the feet are cold before anything else is even nearing cold... if i could keep my feet warmer id have no problem staying out in the river 5-8 hours at a time heh.

With regard to the waders I'm just looking at it from a comfort standpoint especially as we draw further into November-February. I've actually gone and bought both kinds of waders and use the breathable in the summer months. One outing that almost ended in heatstroke was enough to convince me that the neoprene were not made for 4 seasons.
