Every fish that you could bring yourself to let go, has the potential to go and make babies. Babies might get the chance to grow and make more babies. All of this keep the fishing around here good. Keeping fish does nothing good for OUR fishing. Only feeds your little trap.

Why not get a paper route or have Mommy and Daddy just buy you some good eating fish from your local supermarket. Fish that were breed for eating. Supermarkets sell farm raised catfish, walleye, etc...

I've heard carp are good eating too. Keep them and I'm sure nobody would have a problem with that. WCF encourages catch and release to ALL species of fish. EVERY little bit helps.

Next time, spare us the details of your little caveman instincts (to hunt and gather) and the TORTURE you put those poor fish through.

As for growing up? I have already forgotten more than you will ever know.

You kept the hog you had in your avatar! LM should be released, unless it is half dead already. If you want to harvest panfish or salmon from the big pond. That would be acceptable. Maybe even a pike or walleye once in a while. But, LM's and Musky are pure sportfish. JMO

Guys, Prince did nothing illegal. I know Jason will be disapointed when he reads this thread and sees members taking personal shots and slamming another member for keeping a legal fish. Politely stating your opinion is one thing, but honestly guys, some of you are taking this too far.

Matt is right. I have been staying out of this discussion, but I feel that you guys are being too hard on the kid. Everyone has different ideas about fishing. While I, like most others on this site would never keep a trophy largemouth or northern, Prince is entitled to do that if he so chooses. If you don't agree with what he did that is your prerogative, keep it to yourself. I will say this though, you have to respect the kid for the quality of the fish that he has been catching this year.

In Canada that was pretty much the perfect eating size.
I would wack it on the head before you bag it up though. I hear the meat becomes tainted by the adrenaline the fish releases while struggling in a situation like that. Just what I heard.
I dont keep fish around here, but thats just me. And, in general, Im too lazy to clean a fish myself anywhere I go, so that really limits me.

but seriously kid did take a LEGAL fish we cant bash on him dat much. We shuld appreciate that atleast it wasnt a 12 incher. But I am all about catch and release but then again i dont like fish. but we have to lay off the kid i mean this is a friendly forum..and Ive noticed the forum has been hot. I noticed that the bashing has gone up in the last week. I know the heat is probably getting to my fellow fishermen. But Prince now u know next time u catch a fish and plan on taking it throw a white lie sumwhere tell us hes sumwhere in the water. becasue like said I agree that must have been cruel for the fish. hopefully he was good. Ok, I'm sorry. I personally don't feel I have "threatened" anybody here, nor would I ever. Now since I know he is a "keep anything I can get to touch my line" kid, I will just avoid his posts from now on.

Just my opinion? Yes, everybody is entitled to their own. I never referred to "him" as being a caveman, only keeping fish (to me) seems like something only a caveman would do. (a.k.a. To hunt and gather) I have nothing against long hippie hair. If the boy is going to get on a website that encourages catch and release, he better be willing to accept a little ridicule from time to time.

As for the crack about "shrank 3 inches", just a tasteless joke. One thing the kid needs to know in life, when someone dishes out jokes, you need to slam one right back. Where I work, my friends, family, even a piece of hair out of place could result in a barrage of tasteless one liners. Need to be quick with the comebacks and they have to be better/raunchier...lol

If he had posted his report wisely this would of never had happen. Everyone knows when a game fish is harvest and you post a report about it your gonna get chewed up from other members regardless if its legal or not no questions about it.

So Nick I hope a lesson was learn on how you post your reports from now on. :wink:

Saying that something is ok because it's legal is setting an extremely low standard. It's legal to be fat and lazy, but that doesn't mean it's desirable.

Again, when you post on a regional fishing site you're going to catch flack for keeping game fish.

Also, that would be a "slot" fish in all of the Canadian shield lakes I've fished. The slot protects ~28-36" fish in order to increase the chances of mature fish reaching trophy size and to keep strong spawners in the system.
