I see most of you are doing lipless, football jig and rat ltrap for bass this time of the year. Why isn't senko a good choice this time of the year?

If I remember correctly from last year, once the weeds start to set up, the trap bite will die down and that's when the senkos started being the go-to lure, at least in North Pool. I can't seem to remember if that started just prior to them all spawning, or if it didn't start until just after. I want to say it was prior to the spawn, but we were seeing a distinct inside weed edge that was producing many of the fish.

Senkos just plain suck any time of year. I think we've only caught just under 400 on in the month of April/March locally over the past 5 years with senkos.

That being said Tmoney is on the money. I'm trying to hold off on throwing senkos likely till late May and will use methadone to ease the pain during these lean times.

I was going to try lipless and looked in my box and was out of them so I been using luckystrike spinnerbaits
with trailer and been doing pretty good in windy choppy waters. As waters warm pull out the plastics.

Today!

First cast of the year today, on the drop, got me one. Seriously, the lure was in the water for less than 2 seconds!

They continued to hit on it after that. Good! I hate cranks with all those weed grabbing hooks.

Hey guys. I dont know if anyone has tried these plastic baits but I just picked up some zoom baby brush hogs and took them on a small fishing trip to iowa. Those things produced better for me then any senko (and last year i caught plenty of fish off the black senko at busse) to date. Color I used was watermelon candy. If you are tired of senkos, use these. Ill try to place a link to a few of my pics from the fishing trip. No lunkers, but def. a few bass.

I got two over the weekend on Weightless worms in crystal clear water. Like most others I prefer black worms. I personally have had great success on black with blue flake. There's no right and wrong way to Fish. Spring fish are just easier... Shallower and hungrier so aggressive approaches typically catch more as well as cover more water. You can catch bass on senkos while ice fishing :D You go out and fish how you want and don't get wrapped up in what everyone else is doing. Once you do that you'll be stumbling inna tryin to figure it out game. When you could have just been catching what aggressive fish that are there on senkos. :D There are some more productive methods... But all in all Bass are a species you literally can catch on anything, Which is why there so popular.

Looking forward to your Senko bass. Last year almost every summer report were of Senko bass ;)

Despite my efforts this spring, I have yet to catch a bass on a lipless crankbait. But, I've caught them on everything else==bass jigs, a huge lipped Flicker Shad, Senko baits both wacky and Texas as well as on Crappie Sliders.
