No prob.I'm hoping for lots of them to make it down the creek to me.
Better hope FishingMatt doesn't get to them before you....he has a knack for catching musky out of small creeks! :D

Nice catch by the way and welcome to the site.

Lets congatulate an angler for a job well done. What's with all the BS. We all knew eventually that someone would post a muskie from Busse. Whether it was 28 or not makes no difference. Let's just hope the Bucket's don't ruin this. Good job on the Ski!

wow im shocked muskie i heard a small amounts of tigers were stocked in the dpr anyone know if its true but why stock salt creek and not dpr im confused
They stocked them in Busse Lake.. Unfortunately, but good for people like me who spend loads of time fishing the creek, there is no barrier net on the dam at Busse. Because of the lack of barrier, the fish escape the lake.

Muskies will never get stocked into Salt Creek. (poor water quality/ absurdly high summertime water temps/ too turbid for maximum survival)
Muskies will never get stocked into DesPlaines River. (same as above)
Back in the day a few Tigers were dumped into the river. Why? Makes no sense because nobody has ever really pulled any out from there.

28 incher is possible when you take into consideration all of the shad and sucker species found in that system:

Below is reference.
DUH! --> http://dnr.wi.gov/fish/musky/muskywater ... story.html

I agree with Seabass for the first time in my life.

I spoke to one of the CCFPD biologists at the outdoors show yesterday and specifically asked how the musky were doing at Busse. He indicated that they are doing very well and have shocked up fish well into the 20+ inch range.

Thanks for the report and welcome to the site my friend. Despite the rather rude posts by a couple on this thread, i'm sure you'll find this is a great place.

Well said Jeff. Well said.

I'm not sure if you guys saw my WWD post from the Saturday before last. I got a surface smash while pulling in my first cast with a 5" senko that broke/cut my 6lb test almost immediately. I was reeling in fast to re-cast, and it was riding along the top. Since it was dark I had no chance of seeing what hit. I've been assuming brittle line was the cause, but this thread has me hoping and dreaming that maybe...just maybe...it was something more :D

I lost a toothy critter up in Wisconsin this year the same way. I was pitching a 6" senko at daybreak into some timber. Immediately upon hitting the water, my line took off like a bat out of hell. I set the hook and "snap". I had new 12 lb mono and freshly retied. So, I know it was a pike or a ski in for a meal. I probably dropped the Senko right on his head. Bring a spook for that situation next time?

Spook or a half ounce buzzbait. Lots of bass guys like to throw the 3/8 model but even 10-12'' bass will successfully grab onto 1/2 ounce. Esox on topwaters is definitely an underated tactic for getting those fish that are way up shallow. Going with a 1/2 or even a 3/4 ounce is a great way to multispecies fish in the summer and fall.

Doubt it.

Might be living in WI full-time this summer. We'll see.

This Musky at the WWD is actually a pretty cool topic I can bring up for reference during the presentation/meeting the Salt Creek Watershed Network is having on Feb 2nd at Addison Trail H.S.... Gonna be on the state of the water quality, the dissolved oxygen factor, and overall fishery and capacity for life. Looking forward to contributing and listening. Definitely gonna bring up this story to see what the environmental experts have to say.
