I remember watching The Turtles on The Ed Sullivan show. I thought that guy was stoned during the show.

R.I.P. Rick Davies

Rick Davies, keyboardist/singer with Supertramp has died at age 81. He wasn't the main singer but is well known for singing lead on Goodbye Stranger and Bloody Well Right.

Supertramp story: I grew up in a small town in WI, population 2750. I got into Kansas because the uncle of one of my best friends was Kansas's lighting director in heir hey day. He gave me a promo copy of their double live album, Two for the Show and they've been my favorite band since. Shortly after that, he left Kansas to go work for Supertramp, just in time for their hey day with the release of their Breakfast in America album. He turned down an offer from Tommy Shaw of Styx and went with Supertramp instead. He's now in L.A. still doing lights, but now for big local events and theatres.

Super Tramp's history is interesting. They formed due to financial backing of a Dutch millionaire who put them together. Sort of like the Monkees...
