Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Many Christian theologians think this is a reference to Psalm 22 which is a Messianic psalm illustrating by what signs/marks the Jewish people are to recognize their Messiah when he comes and describing the ultimate victory of his apparent demise. If you read it, it describes the life of Jesus quite well. It was the practice of rabbinic Judaism of the time to quote the first several verses of a passage to bring to mind that whole passage, which devout Jews would have memorized, particularly those that refer to a coming Messiah.

Given your previous posts I would assume you are attempting to suggest that even this man Jesus was foresaken by God. This thought/interpretation is traditionally believed to be simply a reference to God's turning his eyes from the sin Christ bore on the cross (since God cannot be in the presence of, nor look upon, sin), not a rejection of him and his person or salvific work. God doesn't reject, men do.

Hey Topwater :) , thanks for clearing that up on here for those who didn't know that already.  :D

Enough of this lol
I strongly believe that we should all respect each other's religious beliefs. It is the individual's responsibility to not become a fanatic and to not be a thorn in the religion. To express and expose the positive acts and not the negative fanatical ones, as we so clearly see almost daily. And, finally, to continue to search for the truth; not the truth that we want to hear but the founded documented truth as best can be found.

I wish you all the many blessings the universe has to offer and infinite bright returns of the day.

Jesus Christ :!: Who woulda' thunk that this kind of Evangelical Existentialism would be discussed on WCF web site. I think I shat myself :!: A Holy Shit, if you will :D I come here to get fishing tips, hear the latest B.S., talk some smak, etc.

I am impressed by the Theological knowledge being expressed here. What ever gets you through the day, I guess. After doin' time in the Catholic Penal system (I stress Penal System   ) for 12 years, I'm a little cynical (or should I say SINical) about religion.

I think Bishop Bickering from "Caddyshack" said it best,
"There is no God!"

we will always have our differences. from aris' choice of mullet hair styles  to jason's great sense of fashion, in particular, his collection of hawaiian shirts.
