Vinyl is making a decent comeback. I have nothing to play it on, but I bought some 180 gram vinyl in September.

The online store screwed up my order. The $60 LP+CD+tshirt+poster package got billed to my card as a $1 charge, shipping included.

I was never really that into "punk" music but did frequent some of the punk (new wave) bars because...well...girls. Friends owned/managed Metro so as a regular I got to see and hang with Billy Idle, Smashing Pumpkins or whoever was passing thru. Saw the B-52's at the Aragon ballroom early '80's and had a blast....I remember dancing on a table to Rock Lobster and they let us do it cause the gf was hot. 8) ah, fond memories.

I almost made the mistake of marrying a really hot, really f'ing crazy chick when I was around 20 or so. Glad I woke up before it happened. I'd probably still be in jail...

Sorry but got you all beat. Saw The Who & Jethro Tull at the original Kenetic Playground summer '67 or '68.
Here's some Ian Anderson and Greg Lake playing together for you.

I had to laugh at the choice of lyrics to sing in a cathedral.

At the stations -- one by one.
His woman and his best friend --
In bed and having fun.

Catches angels as they fall.
And the all-time winner
Has got him by the balls.

He picks up Gideon's Bible --
Open at page one --
God stole the handle and...

I agree. If your choice of a wife included one who had the brains and brawn to bust you out of jail, that's much better than a hot chick that would have left you to rot in the slammer while spending all your cash. 8)

Ron - thanks for the video. Having been in Salisbury Cathedral and heard the acoustics I can imagine how this must have sounded. We stayed at a B&B just around the corner and wandered in one evening. They had a boys choir that evening & although that's not necessarily my cup of tea it was pretty incredible. Lots of nice folks having a wonderful evening together - not a church service. the Brits have got it right...

BTW - my comment about still being in jail referred to the probability that I would have killed her - not to any time actually spent.

First concert was Fleetwood Mac at Alpine Valley, spent some time at concerts at Comiskey Park late 70s,,,Rush , Foghat and others didnt really care for , just went for the Girls. Not a big concert guy. Best music was hearing this in the house mid 60s. If you listen to the whole clip you will be singing this song the next few days lol. Tintarella di luna

You're right Coyote, it's been almost a day and I still have the ear-bug. :)

Cool vid RonG. I wouldn't have recognized those two, I know we all look different now...but some celebs get more exposure so we're used to their current looks. btw, I read that Mick Jaggar (with his 29 yr old gf) just became a father for the eighth time this past week...even if he keeps appearing more and more to look like Don Knotts.

This photo was on the cover of USA Today. I am the head behind the head. This was from Ringo's 50th birthday party at the Hard Rock Hotel. Ran the security team there for many years before I became a police officer.

Not too shabby! A WCF admin, a Beatle and a Bond girl all in the same shot.

R.I.P. Princess Leia??

I hope she pulls through ok. There are reports that she wasn't breathing for 10 minutes or so.

Who here knew that Terri Nunn came extremely close to landing the role of the SW Princess?

In addition to Berlin's techno-pop, she can pull off some decent AC/DC too.

Seriously though, lemme show my youth. In 87' or 88' pa and I left radio shack with a magical new device called a CD player. The plan was to hook it up the tuner and speakers already in the living room.

We stopped at local record store (rolling stones), place seemed gigantic at that age. Only problem was they had one little rack of cds, the whole place was still mainly cassette business at that time.

So with the help of dad we picked out 3 albums. Dad picked up the White Album as he claimed for the 4th or 5th time in his life. I immediately picked a little album called Appetite for Destruction by Guns n Roses, knowing completely nothing about the band, I was a kid, I just like the picture on the cover. Who would of known I'd still have a man crush on slash to this day. The third album was another guess, they had lots of them was our whole reasoning for choosing it, it was an album called Joshua Tree by a band from across the pond called U2. Man did those two cds put on some mileage.

First concert just brings me back to my youth. Chicago's 90s punk scene, far from the pansies that make up the genre these days. Riding the skateboards to the L, heading to the Fireside on Fullerton and California. Literally gang war zone at the time, to see $3 shows by bands like the black flag, the descendants, and 88 fingers Louie. It wasn't so much the music but it was more about the message. Most were far from talented musicians, merely just garage bands.

R.I.P. George Michael

R.I.P. Rick Parfitt

Please. 2017 come quickly and stop the bleeding. I don't quite remember a year like 2016. Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, Glen Frey, Prince, David Bowie, George Michael, Rick Parfitt, Merle Haggard, Leon Russell, Maurice White, Paul Kantner. Who am I forgetting? Or more importantly who's even still here?
